Urgent warning over new viral cooking trend that's seen a dangerous way to fry steak | The Sun

AN urgent warning has been issued over viral cooking trend that's promoting a dangerous way to fry steak.

Fire authorities are urging TikTok viewers not to try the new hack which is being watched by millions of people.

The trick sees people using a toaster to cook steak by inserting the slab of meat where the bread normally would go.

In one example, TikTok user Juliette is seen using the toaster's grill plates to cook the beef before pulling it out with tongs.

Using the "#chef" hashtag, the American woman – known only as Juliette – captioned the video: "Cooking steak for my boyfriend."

But the idea is being slammed by the London Fire Brigade who are urging anyone who sees the trending video not to try it at home.

Their social media account said on Twitter: “What you having for dinner?”

“This #Electricalsafetyweek we’re reminding people to only use electrical products for their designated use.

"Don’t cook steaks in a toaster.”

Despite the clip being popular, many who have watched are weary about giving it a go.

Meanwhile, others branded the clip "disturbing and disgusting" and were horrified by the lack of seasoning above all else.

One person said: “100 per cent fire risk."

Another said: "That’s how you burn a house down.”

Someone else said: "I just watched a crime happen."

And while the quick fix is dangerous, Juliette will have to deep clean her toaster after contaminating it with raw meat.
