The High Mobility Artillery Rocket System has proven incredibly successful in Ukraine’s fight against Russia. The rocket system is comprised of a five-tonne truck which can fire long-range guided missiles.
It is estimated that there are approximately 30 HIMARS now being used by Ukraine following the donation from the US.
The Kyiv Independent reported that Ukraine has received more HIMARS from the United States.
The news outlet tweeted: “Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that four additional HIMARS from the US have arrived in Ukraine.”
On Twitter, the Defence Minister said: “HIMARS time: good time for Ukrainians and a bad time for the occupiers.”
He added: “I thank @potus Joe Biden @secdef Lloyd Austin III and the American people.”
The new M30A1 guided rockets differ from the M31A1/A2 rockets which were previously seen in the conflict.
The new long-range rockets feature a different warhead and can precisely strike large targets of 85metres.
The missile has a range of 57.2miles and is made up of 182,000 tungsten ball bearings which means it can cover a wide area and damage soft targets such as soft-skinned vehicles.
The missile which explodes above its target, raining ball bearings down on its target is effective in clearing areas and removing opposition troops.
The missiles which have already been used in Ukraine, have the ability to decimate half a square mile of land in a single shot.
Footage of the weapon in action in a testing environment has emerged on social media and shows the damage it can cause in slow motion.
The ball bearings discharge in a cluster and scatter across the target, burning holes through metal and sending shrapnel flying through the air.
The rockets constructed by Lockheed Martin can be programmed by the Ukrainian military to shatter above large groups of troops and can destroy trench systems and make pathways for Ukrainians to advance.

The latest delivery of HIMARs is set to strengthen Ukrainian forces as they continue their counteroffensive against Russia.
President Biden tweeted on Tuesday: “This morning, I spoke with President Zelensky and G7 Leaders about our unwavering commitment to hold Russia accountable for its war and support Ukraine for as long as it takes.”
It comes after Biden approved a new $625million (£571m) security assistance package for Ukraine.
The President said: “I reaffirmed my commitment to continue supporting Ukraine.”
