The late monarch "loathed" Boris Johnson after he gave her a silly nickname called "Her Maj", according to a source close to the palace.

The source also believes the former prime minister didn't use his position to help the Queen during Prince Andrew's civil sex case.

The case featured bombshell allegations from Virginia Giuffre and was eventually settled earlier this year. The Duke of York has always denied any wrongdoing.

The Queen sadly died at her summer home in Balmoral, Scotland, on Thursday.

Following her death, a palace source has since claimed that Boris was unable to help her because of his own issues.

They told The Times: "At least she will be spared having to give Boris a knighthood. I think she loathes Boris because of his behaviour.

"He went around referring to her as 'Her Maj' and he never gave her any useful advice.

"You would have expected a prime minister to help sort out the mess with Prince Andrew, but Boris couldn't help because he was mired in a scandal of his own."

Boris Johnson stepped down from his position after a string of mass resignations sparked by cabinet members Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak.

The new prime minister Liz Truss met the monarch just days before her death.

It was reported that the 96-year-old asked her to form a new government during their meeting on Tuesday (September 6).

Ms Truss was informed of the Queen’s death by Cabinet Secretary Simon Case at 4.30pm on Thursday, the Prime Minister’s official spokesman said.

The news was later confirmed to the nation at 6.31pm.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
