Met Police shoot man in London with casualty rushed to hospital by helicopter

A man has been rushed to hospital by helicopter after the Metropolitan Police shot him in London.
Greenwich Police confirmed at around 3.20pm that they were dealing with an emergency on Creek Road, south east London.
The force tweeted: "Serious incident on Creek Road between Greenwich Town Centre and Deptford. Road closed. Please avoid the area."
In response to a clip shared on Twitter of an air ambulance coming in to land on Creek Road, Greenwich, someone wrote: "Someone was shot by the cops on Deptford bridge. Heard shouting and the shot. Didn’t see what happened."
Another Twitter user claimed to have heard "a lot of shouting and then a single shot" before seeing someone be carried by a stretcher into the air ambulance.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 2:42pm today (5 August) to reports of a shooting in Creek Road, Greenwich.
“We sent a number of resources including an ambulance crew, an advanced paramedic, a motorcycle paramedic, a medic in a fast response car and an incident response officer, and we also dispatched medics from London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated a man at the scene and took him as a priority to a major trauma centre.”
Traffic monitor social media account, Jambuster London has reported the incident has forced road closures as emergency services cordon off the area.
Jambuster warned its followers: "A200 Creek Road (Both directions) at the junction of Creekside – The road is closed following an emergency services incident. Use an alternative route."
An impacted resident revealed the situation has left her hungry. She said: "The one day I decide to get takeaway in Greenwich the whole of creek road is closed."
