Chilling Russian predictions for 2023 – war in Europe and President Elon Musk

An ex-Russian president has said war is coming to Europe in a series of terrifying predictions for 2023.

Dmitry Medvedev, who was Russia's leader between 2008 and 2012, also predicted that Brexit would be reversed and Tesla magnate Elon Musk would rise to power in the US in a list of 10 shocking predictions for the coming year posted to Telegram and Twitter.

"On […] New Year’s Eve, everybody’s into making predictions," Medvedev, now deputy chair of the Russian Security Council, tweeted.

"Many come up with futuristic hypotheses, as if competing to single out the wildest, and even the most absurd ones. Here’s our humble contribution."

Medvedev predicted that "the UK will rejoin the EU" causing the union's demise.

"The EU will collapse after the UK’s return; Euro will drop out of use as the former EU currency."

As for Ukraine, Medvedev had more worrying prophecies and called it a "formerly existing" country.

He predicted Poland and Hungary would swoop in to occupy parts of the country, currently under siege by Putin's army.

Just as scarily, Medvedev predicted the creation of a "Fourth Reich", following in the footsteps of Hitler's Third Reich in Nazi Germany.

"Poland and Hungary will occupy western regions of the formerly existing Ukraine," he wrote.

"The Fourth Reich will be created, encompassing the territory of Germany and its satellites, i.e., Poland, the Baltic states, Czechia, Slovakia, the Kiev Republic, and other outcasts.

"War will break out between France and the Fourth Reich. Europe will be divided, Poland repartitioned in the process."

Sounds like a busy year for conflict – and it doesn't stop at Europe, as Medvedev also foresees a civil war breaking out in the US.

"Civil war will break out in the US, California and Texas becoming independent states as a result," Medvedev wrote.

"Texas and Mexico will form an allied state."

And who better to rule over the bickering states than Twitter's former CEO, Elon Musk – although, as American presidential candidates have to be born in the US to be eligible, South Africa-born Musk is technically already out of the race, which also isn't set to happen until 2024 anyway.

Medvedev also reckoned the price of oil would double, stock markets would relocate to Asia, and that the World Bank would crash.

It's a pretty hefty list – and fellow Twitter users were keen to have their say.

Even would-be future president Elon Musk chimed in, writing: "Epic thread!!

Those are definitely the most absurd predictions I’ve ever heard, while also showing astonishing lack of awareness of the progress of artificial intelligence and sustainable energy."

Meanwhile another user wrote: "This tweet is a real-life example of why you shouldn't tweet while drinking Russian vodka."

"In reality, only Russia‘s economy and military will be crumbled and both Ukraine and Europe will be reunified," a third wrote.
