Teen girl, 18, arrested over hit-and-run death of OAP in his 70s after he was mown down crossing road in Banbury | The Sun

A TEEN girl has been arrested after a pensioner was mowed down and killed outside a Thai restaurant.

The man, aged inhis 70s, was on a pedestrian crossing in Banbury, Oxfordshire, when the Nissan Paxo smashed into him.

Tragically he could not be saved and was declared dead at the scene shortly after.

A 19-year-old girl also received minor injuries in the horror outside of the Thai Orchid restaurant on Friday night.

The female driver of the car, 18, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Thames Valley Police confirmed she has since been released on bail.

Sergeant Edward Crofts of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We are conducting an investigation following this incident in which a man has sadly lost his life.

"My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and one person has been arrested and bailed.

“We are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been driving in the area at the time of the incident and may have dash-cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to the collision.
