Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is said to be in a coma after a deterioration of an illness, according to reports.
According to Eastern European news outlet Nexta Andrei Yusov from Ukrainian intelligence said that Kadyrov’s illnesses had worsened.
He said: “The information is confirmed from various sources in medical and political circles. This is not about injuries. Other details need further clarification. He has been sick for a long time, and we are talking about systemic health problems.”
Kadyrov, 46, recently paid tribute to former Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin after he was killed in a plane crash, saying his death was a “great loss for the whole state”.
The leader heads up Russia’s the Muslim-majority region of Russia, Chechnya, which borders Georgia in the North Caucasus near the Caspian Sea.

In a post on Telegram following the death of warlord Prigozhin, Kadyrov wrote: “We’ve been friends for a long time.
He added that Prigozhin was “distinguished from others by his responsiveness, unique communication skills and persistence.”
The post was accompanied by an image of the pair together.
In the glowing social media message Kadyrov added: “You could discuss any topic or problem with him. He was always ready to help and really helped from the heart.
“We also assisted him on some issues regarding Libya and Africa. We had a lot in common. On one of his visits, he presented me with the Wagner gold medal “For Special Merit.” You see this moment in the photo.”
Kadyrov is a close Putin ally and has been known as his “attack dog”. The Tsentaroy-born warlord has deployed his troops, who are known for their brutality, during the war in Ukraine.

Kadyrov himself has a reputation for sinister acts of aggression.
Only this week reports emerged that Kadyrov ordered Elkhan Suleymanov, his personal doctor, to be buried alive. It is claimed that the Chechen leader blamed the medical professional for his ailing condition.
The 49-year-old doctor also served as health minister and deputy premier of Chechnya, but vanished last year.
His sudden disappearance led some in the know to speculate about his fate.
Telegram channel VChK-OGPU, which has links to law enforcement in Russia, said Kadyrov “blamed the sharp deterioration in his health”.
The channel added: “No one there has seen Suleymanov since October 2022, and there is talk that he was brutally killed and buried alive in the ground.
“Absolutely everyone says that he is no longer alive and that he died a painful death.”
