Police release CCTV of four teenage youths after wheelchair-bound man in his 30s was left with ‘life changing’ injuries after attack by gang

Police are appealing for information after a wheelchair-bound man was left with ‘life changing’ injuries when he was attacked by a group of youths.

The vulnerable man in his 30s was attacked alongside a friend in his 40s in the Cathedral Green area of Salisbury, Wiltshire.

The pair were set upon and chased into the High Street and onto Crane Street by the gang at around 9:15pm on July 19.

The wheelchair-bound man has suffered ‘potentially life changing’ injuries as a result of the attack that left him ‘incredibly distressed’, reported police.

Detectives said, due to the location of the incident, they expect there are witnesses among the public yet to come forward.

Police are now asking witnesses to assist them with their enquiries, particularly in identifying the individuals involved in the attack.

Det Con Susan Ellway said: ‘This was a sustained attack, during which a vulnerable man has suffered serious injuries, which have left him incredibly distressed.

‘The incident happened in a public place with a number of members of the public believed to be witnesses.

‘We have already obtained a number of witness accounts and we would continue to urge anyone with information to get in touch.

‘Behaviour of this nature is completely abhorrent and will not be tolerated within our community.

‘I know those living in Salisbury will be frustrated and upset by this incident.

‘We would like to reassure residents that we are conducting a robust investigation to identify those involved.’
