Lover ‘stabbed partner in eye with rabies needle for looking at other women’

A woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in the eye with a hypodermic "rabies needle" has been placed on house arrest.

Sandra Jimenez, 44, and her partner had been in an "ongoing argument" after she grew jealous of him "looking at other women." The row at a home in Miami in Florida, US, on Saturday (November 25) allegedly became physical shortly before 10pm.

Miami Police Department reported the man went to lie down on the sofa where Jimenez "jumped on top of him with two rabies needles that were for their dogs." Officers said the man was stabbed through the right eyelid.

Jimenez then allegedly fled the scene after she "realised what she had done" and noted the severity of her partner's injuries. He was transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital for urgent treatment.

After speaking with the man in hospital, cops found Jimenez sleeping in a car outside the property and arrested her. She has since been charged with a felony charge of aggravated battery, to which she has pleaded not guilty, court records show.

She was initially jailed at the Miami-Dade County Jail but has now been placed under house arrest on a $7,500 (£5,920) bond. She was also appointed a public defender.

Jimenez is due back in court for her arraignment on December 26.
