Hunt for knifeman who stabbed man to death outside Sainsbury’s supermarket in leafy London suburb

  • The man was stabbed in nearby Dollis Park in Finchely, in the borough of Barnet
  • He managed to stagger to outside Sainsbury’s where he collapsed and died

Police have launched a hunt for a knifeman after a man was stabbed to death outside a Sainsbury’s in a leafy London suburb. 

The man managed to stagger his way outside the supermarket in Finchley where he collapsed after being knifed yesterday at around 9.40pm nearby in Dollis Park.

Video footage shows ambulances parked up nearby with blue lights flashing, while paramedics can be seen kneeling on the pavement as they desperately try to save the man’s life.

A police officer also kneels nearby while another paramedic is giving CPR.

Two Met Police officers can be seen unwrapping police tape as they put a cordon in place. 

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, reported the Evening Standard. 

No arrests have been made.

A Met Police spokesman said: ‘Officers are working to confirm his identity and inform next of kin. 

‘A crime scene is in place and enquiries to establish what happened are ongoing.’

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: ‘We were called on Monday (August 7) at 9.35pm to reports of a stabbing on Dollis Park, Finchley.

‘We sent a number of resources to the scene, including an advanced paramedic, a medic in a fast-response car, an incident response officer and an ambulance crew. 

‘We also dispatched a team from London’s Air Ambulance.

‘We treated a man at the scene, but sadly, despite our team’s best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.’

Finchley, in the borough of Barnet, is home to Georgian and Victorian properties.

Estate agent Squires describes the ‘increasingly desirable area’ as a ‘pleasant suburb’ with a ‘peaceful atmosphere’.

Homes sell for an average of £840,000 in Dollis Park, according to Rightmove.
