Harry and Meghan could throw spanner in coronation works with ‘balcony demand’

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could throw a spanner in the coronation works if they are to move forward with their "balcony demand".

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been invited to the upcoming coronation of King Charles III, but may cause some "coronation chaos".

An insider has since claimed that the coronation could be plunged into chaos due to those "demands" from the royal duo, who are expected to make the trip to attend the event, Express reported.

It would appear "tense negotiations" have opened up about whether the Sussex duo will appear alongside working royals on the balcony, with the pair requesting a spot at Buckingham Palace.

An insider revealed: "Once the King has been crowned, there will be a Coronation procession that will start at Westminster Abbey and end at Buckingham Palace.

"Once the procession reaches the Palace, the King will take to the balcony and wave at the crowds with the rest of the royal family members and their children.

"This is where Harry and Meghan have requested inclusion."

Balcony arrangements so far are for working royals only, as they were last summer for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, where Harry and Meghan made no appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

But it could prove a special weekend for the royal duo, whose trip to the UK for the King of England's coronation falls on the same weekend as Archie's birthday.

Speaking of the possibilities of a birthday mention at the coronation, the insider said: "It's also Prince Archie's birthday on Coronation Day so they would like some kind of nod to that at a lunch or drinks reception. Even if it's just a happy birthday mention."

It comes as that same insider reveals negotiations between Harry, Meghan and the Palace are to be wrapped up "as quickly as possible because they can't go right up to the wire."
