Denver weather: Swing from 70 degrees to snow expected, winter storm advisory issued for mountains

A classic springlike swing, from temperatures as warm as 70 degrees in metro Denver to snow in the evening, awaits residents, and the National Weather Service has issued a winter storm advisory for the mountains as snow storms spread into western Colorado.

Colorado Front Range residents can expect rain and snow Wednesday night, weather service forecasters said. No more than a couple of inches is expected.

The main impacts on roads will be confined to the mountains Wednesday night and early Thursday.

In the mountains, snow starting Wednesday afternoon may lead to “a brief burst of very heavy snow” in the evening, the NWS said.

Rain showers are expected on the high plains, shifting to snow Wednesday night.
