The parents of a kidnapped woman left brain-damaged after falling from a van have revealed she’s continuing to show signs of recovery, with her mother saying: ‘We know she’s in there, you can see it in her eyes’.
Angel Lynn, 21, suffered catastrophic brain injuries when she fell out of the vehicle head-first as it was travelling at 60mph on the A6 after being kidnapped by her abusive ex-boyfriend Chay Bowskill in September 2020.
Doctors feared the worst, but Angel has defied the odds and can now stand and is learning how to swallow.
‘They said she wouldn’t survive,’ her mother, Nikki, told Good Morning Britain. ‘Then she got Covid and pneumonia and they said they had done everything to stop her seizures and it wasn’t working.
‘They had one last medicine to try and it worked. She stopped having seizures. She moved into a rehab unit where she got poorly again and returned to hospital. Now she’s in another rehab unit where they’re doing wonders with her.’

Angel’s parents spoke this morning after a new Channel 4 documentary, The Kidnap of Angel Lynn, showed the moment she told Nikki that she loves her by sign language.
She can be seen in the film in her mobility chair as Nikki tenderly holds her hand and tells her ‘You will get there you know. You have come so far in the last year.’

As her mother tells her ‘I love you’, Angel points to her eye, her heart, then her parent, before making the number two with her fingers.
Nikki replies to her ‘I know you do baby’.
Nikki said the moment gave her hope, adding on GMB: ‘We know she’s in there, 100pc, you can see it in her eyes.’
She and her husband, Paddy, 53, are currently refurbishing their home in preparation for Angel’s return.
‘We were having a hoist put in but we don’t need that now because she can pull herself up,’ Nikki said.
‘She got a bedroom downstairs and a wet room with a carer’s bedroom next to her.
‘Then the kitchen is being made bigger so she’s got plenty of room. The whole upstairs has had to be changed. We’re sharing bedrooms.’
CCTV caught the moment Angel was forced into a van by Bowskill and his accomplice Rocco Sansome, in Rothley, Leicestershire, in September 2020 after an argument.
She then fell out of the vehicle, which was driven by Sansome, as it travelled at 60mph, before she was found by horrified members of the public.

Bowskill was jailed for seven and a half years earlier this year while Sansome received 21 months. Bowkill’s sentence was later increased to 12 years, although Sansome’s was not changed.
Nearing the end of the relationship, Bowskill became increasingly threatening and Angel began to withdraw before attempting to leave him.
Mr and Mrs Lynn said they were doing the documentary to raise awareness of coercive control by abusive partners.
Angel’s father, Paddy, said she and Nikki had ‘no inkling’ she was in an abusive relationship and now want to raise awareness of the signs of domestic abuse.
In September last year, Nikki said she was warned her daughter’s injuries were fatal but she was starting to regain movement on her left side and relearn how to swallow.

Angel’s fight for survival has astonished doctors at the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham where she was given the last rites three times.

The outgoing youngster was attending college and working part-time as a cleaner when she met Bowskill through a mutual friend around a year before the incident.
The mother-of-six said Bowskill admitted in court that the last thing he said to her daughter before she plunged from the van was: ‘I f***ing hate you, b****.’
Nikki and Patrick, who run a cleaning business, are also parents to Reannon, 31, Lewis, 29, Lester, 27, Kelsie, 12, and ten-year-old Jimmy.
