The Bitcoin Hotel for Entrepreneurs

Communication in this modern area has added some interesting nuances to the workplace. Working remotely, or from home, has become a lot more commonplace in a lot of industries. Though this sounds ideal for many, it does have the downside of lacking the socialization of a traditional office. A new hotel in Singapore adopts bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH), and doubles up as a co-working space.

Transformation of Co-working Spaces

Co-working spaces are one of the solutions that are gaining more traction for this dilemma. The idea is simple enough, offices for rent that are shared with other like-minded individuals who are also lacking in workplace interaction due to their job. These have cropped up all over the world to cater towards the new phenomena of the “digital nomad,” those who work via their computer and travel.

Going beyond this idea, however, is this new venture that has been put forth by Tribe Theory. The new form of “venture hotel,” that targets entrepreneurs and start-ups to not only work and create together but also cohabitate.

Here they have combined aspects of a hotel, hostel and co-working spaces to create a shared dorm-like environment for those trying to focus on their work to live cheaply and be able to socialize as well.

Tribe Theory is based out of Singapore, a popular destination for our aforementioned digital nomads, and offers free Wi-Fi, complimentary breakfast, laundry services and a place to stay for 35 Singapore dollars (about $26) per night. For comparison, the average of hotels in Singapore cost about $180 per night.

Are You Broke But Crypto Happy?

Guests at these lodgings are also able to pay in BTC and ETH as the demographic they are targeting tend not to have a lot of regular cash, but have cryptos. Additionally, solves another issue for those coming overseas, that of the cost of transferring their money to Singapore dollars.

They hope to appeal to the upcoming generation of entrepreneurs who wish to focus on their work without missing out on socialization or travel opportunities.

Vikram Bharati, the founder of Tribe Theory, believes in this sort of workplace and wholly wishes for it to be available for people all around the world:

“What we’re trying to do is create a community. So, not just provide an affordable capsule, but also create a place where people can engage with other entrepreneurs from around the world…The value is that someone from Kazakhstan can meet someone from London and collaborate on business together, which really is very hard to do in co-living spaces or hotels.”

Bharati and his team are focusing on strategies for creating awareness of their brand, but feel comfortable that their target market, as tech-savvy as they are, will naturally find them.

The idea behind Tribe Theory came from Bharati’s own experiences as an entrepreneur and traveling the world during that time. As of now, their plans are expanding to Hong Kong, Tokyo, Berlin, and Estonia in the coming year while hoping to achieve ten major cities in ten countries by the end of 2019.
