‘Unabomber’ Ted Kaczynski who terrorised US found dead in prison cell aged 81

    Ted Kaczynski, known as the "Unabomber", has died in prison at age 81, the Federal Bureau of Prisons has confirmed

    The mathematician turned deadly bomber terrorized the United States for nearly 20 years, planting bombs that killed three Americans and injured many more before his capture in 1996.

    Kaczynski died at the federal prison medical centre in Butner, North Carolina, Kristie Breshears, a spokesperson for the federal Bureau of Prisons, told The Associated Press.

    The 81-year-old was found unresponsive in his cell on Saturday morning and was pronounced dead around 8am.

    His cause of death has not been confirmed.
