Man dies after being pulled from Worcester and Birmingham Canal in early hours horror | The Sun

A MAN has died after being pulled from a canal in a city centre.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the Worcester and Birmingham Canal in the early hours of the morning following reports of man inthe water.

Officers managed to pull him from the canal onto a towpath where paramedics desperately battled to save him.

Tragically he was declared dead at the scene shortly after.

Police are yet to comment on the 4.46am horror and it is not clear if an investigation has been launched.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed they dispatched two ambulances, paramedics, the MERIT trauma doctor and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART).

A spokeswoman said: “On arrival, crews discovered one patient, a man, who had been pulled from the water by police colleagues and was in a critical condition.

“Ambulance staff immediately began providing advanced life support.

“However, despite their best efforts, it sadly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
