Major Russian-occupied city in Ukraine rocked by deafening explosions

Explosions have been heard in the Ukrainian city of Melitopol, which is currently under Russian occupation, located in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the Russian state-owned TASS news agency, citing unnamed sources, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reportedly targeted the locomotive depot facilities and power infrastructure around 5:30 am, leading to a power outage in the occupied city.

Ivan Fedorov, the Mayor of Melitopol said on Telegram: “Melitopol – it’s loud! Several explosions at once are heard in all districts of the city.

“The occupiers are fussing. We’re waiting for the details from the General Staff.”

Fedorov added: “Thick cotton [explosion] fog in the area of the locomotive depot substation.”

Volodymyr Rohov, Melitopol’s pro-Russian “member of the main council of the civil and military administration,” said: “There were hits to the facilities of the Melitopol locomotive depot.

“The attack damaged the city’s power supply facilities. Electricity supply was cut off in Melitopol and some nearby villages.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned Tuesday that unless his nation wins a drawn-out battle in a key eastern city, Russia could begin building international support for a deal that could require Ukraine to make unacceptable compromises.

He also invited the leader of China, long aligned with Russia, to visit.

Zelenskyy told The Associated Press: “If Bakhmut fell to Russian forces, their president, Vladimir Putin, would “sell this victory to the West, to his society, to China, to Iran.”

“If he will feel some blood — smell that we are weak — he will push, push, push”
