A WOMAN who started her side hustle as a way to make extra cash says she now earns more than her £70,000 day job.

Katie Anderson started her business Pine & Treasure to help fund her travels around New Zealand.

But her side hustle, which cost her just £230 to set up, soon became far more lucrative than she imagined.

And Katie says that starting her own business has allowed her to achieve financial freedom and trump her previous salary as a Head of marketing.

Her old job rakes in a whopping £76,189 a year on average according to glassdoor.

Now, Katie sources and sells preloved and vintage clothing, homeware and furniture pieces.

The entrepeneur has now recently launched a capsule collection of made-to-order co-ord clothing pieces.

Katie urged anyone who may have a business idea to “just start”.

She told the Express: “My self-employed salary now exceeds the salary I was earning at my old job as Head of Marketing for a creative agency.

“It was great to be able to earn extra money on the side when I was working and doing Pine& Treasure on the side.

"And to be honest it was a motivator to keep going and working so hard on both jobs.

“I’m not a big splurger/spender on materialistic things, as you can imagine with being addicted to second-hand shopping!

“So any extra money went to savings which helped us to move to a bigger house last year.”

She added: “You can think about it too long or wait to start it perfectly, but time creeps up on you.

“I can’t believe Pine & Treasure is already four years old and I feel like I’ve got so much more to give with it.

“So even if it’s a side hustle you work on a few days a month, just start now!”

Research conducted by GoDaddy found that side hustles providing services or manual jobs can earn you an extra £22,900 a year.

And those who have taken their trade online can rake in another £21,400 a year on average.

The study explained that 58 per cent of online entrepreneurs spent as little as £500 when setting up their new venture.

The process is now becoming even easier, as budding business moguls can rely on artificial intelligence tools to aid them.

Meanwhile, another woman has claimed that she makes £3,295 a week and works less than three hours a day.
