A HORROR plane crash has left four people dead including a Paraguay politician after the aircraft plunged into the ground moments after taking off.

The plane hit a tree before turning into a deadly fireball as it smashed into a field in Paraguay, according to the police report.

Walter Harms, a legislator for the ruling Colorado party was killed in the devastating crash that also took the lives of three other men,

Paraguay's vice-president Pedro Alliana took to X, and said: "I receive with deep pain the sad news about the passing of our colleague, friend and brother of dreams Walter Harms."

The other three men in the crash and thought to be Walter's brother Carlos, the pilot César Godoy and José González.

The countries senator Juan Eudes Afara also released a heartfelt message on X that said: "I feel extremely sad and distressed at the sad news of the plane accident in which the National Representative Walter Harms, his brother Carlos, the pilot César Godoy and Mr. José González lost their lives.

Beto Ovelar, the former Senator of Paraguay and now President of Congress declared a national period of mourning that is set to last three days after the death of the four men.

The wrecked plane can be seen engulfed in flames as it sits burning in a field around 112miles from Paraguay's capital city of Asuncion.

Thick clouds of smoke are also seen coming from the plane's batteredshell that has been torn to pieces in the crash.

Parts of the ravaged plane can be seen up to 10ft away from the crash site in the heavy impact landing.

People rushed to the field where the crash happened and looked on in horror as the flames continued for some time.
