A driver who threw a dead pheasant at a married couple has been ordered to pay more than £1,000 for the bizarre incident.
George Harker, 20, has been ordered to pay a huge sum after he left the couple ‘shocked and upset’ when he threw the dead bird into their passing car on July 23.
During a previous hearing, Teesside Magistrates’ Court heard the defendant was driving his vehicle on Castlelevington Lane, in Stockton, when he stopped to allow their oncoming car to pass.
Harker, who lives on a farm on at Darlington Back Lane in Stockton, then motioned for the couple to roll down their window before launching the bird.
Prosecutor Joanne Hesse said the couple thought Harker’s car was a highway maintenance vehicle and belived he was going to warn them about an incident in the road up ahead.

Ms Hesse said: ‘The defendant’s vehicle had an orange warning beacon. They thought it was a highway maintenance vehicle and stopped believing the defendant was going to inform them of an incident further up the road.
‘They were very upset and shocked. The dead bird in the car clearly upset the pair of them. The incident was highly unprovoked.’
Last month, Harker admitted two counts of using threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour to cause harassment/alarm/distress and the case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.
He appeared back at court on Wednesday where he was fined £500 for the incident.
Harker was also ordered to pay a total of £250 in compensation to the couple as well as £85 costs and a £200 surcharge.
In total, he’s having to pay out £1,035 for the bizarre incident.
