A teenager collapsed and died as others were stabbed and cops were assaulted as chaos erupted between warring fans in India following Argentina’s World Cup final win against France.
Akshaya Kumar, 17, fell to the floor and was later declared dead during a procession of Argentina fans from a local venue, where the final had been shown on TV, with an inquest launched to determine the cause, officials said.
Three others were injured in Kannur in northern Kerala after drunken yobs provoked each other following a tense penalty shoot-out between the two teams in Qatar.

Indians who had declared their support for France reacted angrily to others who had instead opted to support Argentina, with violence spilling out onto the streets.
Cops said they had taken at least six people into custody over their booze-fuelled thuggery.
Elsewhere, in nearby Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, two cops were reportedly assaulted whilst trying to calm down rowdy Argentina supporters.

Another was manhandled before being pulled along the road by a mob as he tried to stop them from blocking the traffic.
And a third was assaulted after he was called to try and remove two youngsters who were causing chaos at a livestream of a game at a venue.
Despite not qualifying for the 2022 World Cup and cricket remaining the country’s most popular sport, fans throughout the country have been plunged into a World Cup frenzy.

Footie icons Messi and Maradona have been credited with the surge in interest, that has also triggered a rise in hooliganism.
Just weeks before this round of violence, clashes broke out in the same area between adopted Argentina and Brazil fans.
Blokes in football tops were filmed slugging it out with poles and sticks as desperate locals tried to break up the scraps.

The long brawl was eventually brought to an end with cops launching a probe into the ugly scenes.
Meanwhile, it remained much more joyful in Argentina with hundreds of thousands of fans celebrating their World Cup heroics at the Plaza de la Republica in Buenos Aires.
