A British cyclist has been killed by a hit-and-run driver in Spain.
The 69-year-old died as a result of the injuries he suffered after being knocked off his bike on a road in the municipality of Turre near to Almeria in the south-east of the country.
The incident happened around 10.30am on Sunday, near to a local fire station.
Efforts to save his life at the scene proved unsuccessful.
A 66-year-old man said to live locally was arrested shortly after the incident and appeared in court yesterday on suspicion of manslaughter and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

He was bailed pending an ongoing investigation.
The investigating magistrate who made the decision, sitting at a court in the nearby town of Vera, justified the decision by saying the suspect lived in the local area and did not present a flight risk.
The dead Brit has not yet been named and it was not clear last night if he lived in the area or was on holiday.
He is believed to have been cycling alone when he was run over.
The road where he was hit is the A-6111R.

Civil Guard sources have confirmed they concluded the driver involved in the hit-and-run had failed to stop at the scene in a report sent to the investigating court.
Turre is home to around 3,500 people and is known for its views of the Sierra Cabrera mountain range, whose peaks rise to around 3,000ft above sea level.
It is a popular cycling area as well as attracting hikers.
Mojacar, which is extremely popular with Brits, is just a 15-minute drive away.
