Dookey Dash, the popular skill-based game launched by Yuga Labs, has witnessed rampant cheating since its launch three weeks ago. Within days of its launch, players complained about the presence of “boosters” in the game. Boosters are players that are hired to pump the scores of their clients. Boosters employ a variety of cheats and hacks to achieve a favorable position on the leaderboard.
Dookey Dash players are paying thousands for boosters
Dookey Dash initially required players to mint an NFT called “Sewer Pass” to become eligible to play. Only the holders of Yuga Labs’ leading NFT collections like Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) were allowed to participate in the mint. The game’s leaderboard tracks the top scores from all players and the highest scorer stands to win a mysterious gift on 15 February.
The sales of Sewer Passes crossing $60 million in the secondary market reflect the excitement of players scrambling to participate in the game. However, players have taken to Twitter to highlight the rampant cheating going on in Dookey Dash. Gamers are reportedly paying boosters anywhere between $400 to $4000 for a better spot on the leaderboard. The cost of the booster service varies depending on the desired score. These boosters are manipulating the scores on the leaderboard using various methods, including “botted” code and hacked in-game obstacles.
Yuga Labs has taken cognizance of the situation and has already taken steps to address the matter. The scores associated with cheating Sewer Passes have been taken down from the leaderboard.
As a reminder, we will also be validating Sewer Passes after the leaderboard is locked, and those caught cheating after that will NOT be able to replay Dookey Dash to log a new score.”
