Heartbroken gamers have been left devastated after pre-orders for the new PS5 "sold out in minutes" in the UK.

Sony announced the new PS5 will be released on November 19 at a huge launch event held on Wednesday, which got fans purring over the exciting new gaming console.

The company also released details of the PS5's price, which is set to cost £449.99 in the UK, although you can get it for just £360.

Pre-orders of the next generation PlayStation console became available online at major UK retailers such as Amazon, Currys, Game and Very on Thursday morning.

But thousands of gamers have been left crushed by their inability to lock down a pre-order of the new console.

One person tweeted: "Pre-orders for PS5 look like they have sold out everywhere now! Christ that went fast!"

Another wrote: "PS5 sold out literally everywhere in the UK. Amazon pre-orders went up at 9am, all were gone in 30 mins. Game are sold out. Currys are having website crashes. Very are sold out. It's all on Argos now…"

"Trying to pre-order PS5 and it's already sold out everywhere wtf," another tweeted.

And it appears some people are already flogging the consoles for huge profits on eBay.

Despite the recommended retail price of £449.99, Daily Star Online has seen dozens of adverts on popular auction site eBay for the PS5 with some at nearly double the price announced by Sony.

And the online auctions have infuriated gamers who were unable to bag a PS5 even more.

One person tweeted: "There are already people flogging #PS5 preorders on eBay for double the price. They should have their pre-orders cancelled!"

"I am angry about the PS5 pre-orders. My problem is that eBay is now FULL of PS5s for insane prices. And tons of people who just want one console can't get it as they're sold out. I HATE this s**t," another person tweeted.

One more user wrote: "eBay is full of people reselling the pre-orders they made for the PS5 at insulting prices.

"There should be ways to stop this. People making profit for being faster than people who actually want the item."

But there is still a glimmer of hope for anyone still hoping to bag a PS5 pre-order, with Argos pre-orders set to go on sale on Friday morning.

The games showcased included Final Fantasy XVI, Harry Potter game Hogwarts: Legacy and Resident Evil VIII.

It will be released on November 12 in USA, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea, while in the UK it will be released a week later on November 19.
