It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a…flying phallus? Moment New Mexico mayoral candidate is interrupted on campaign trail by SEX TOY mounted on drone and is then punched in the arm
- Albuquerque, New Mexico, mayoral candidate Manuel Gonzalez’s campaign event on Tuesday was interrupted by a drone with a sex toy attached to it
- Kaelen Dreyer, 20, then allegedly called Gonzalez a ‘tyrant’ and punches him in the arm, resulting in arrest on battery and resisting officer charges
- Gonzalez is sheriff of Bernalillo County and is running as tough-on-crime candidate
Political campaigning can be an unpredictable affair, as a New Mexico mayoral candidate learned firsthand this week, when his stump speech was interrupted by a flying drone with a sex toy attached to it and a man who punched him.
Bernalillo County Sheriff Manuel Gonzales III’s campaign said the Democrat was unharmed in the scuffle that took place on Tuesday and ‘will not be intimidated.’
A video posted on Facebook shows Gonzales answering questions from an audience of some 70 people, among them children, while standing on a stage at Revel Entertainment Center when the airborne gadget bearing the dark-colored phallic toy started buzzing near the stage.
Look up! Albuquerque, New Mexico, mayoral candidate Manuel Gonzalez’s campaign event on Tuesday was interrupted by a drone with a sex toy attached to it
Gonzalez, who is the current sheriff of Bernalillo County, was taking questions from the audience when the drone bearing the phallic toy started buzzing near the stage
‘Is that a d*** on a drone?’ a woman is heard saying off camera, sparking laughter.
Gonzalez also remarks on the inappropriate display, saying: ‘we have a gentleman over here who I guess is trying to be cute.’
A sheriff’s office report obtained by the Albuquerque Journal said the owner of the event center snatched the device out of the air, and at the same moment 20-year-old Kaelan Dreyer made a failed attempt to grab it.
Dreyer then turned his attention to Gonzales, swinging his fist and calling him a ‘tyrant.’ A deputy wrote that Dreyer punched Gonzales in the arm and was then removed from the venue by deputies.
Unfazed by the blow, Gonzalez then resumed answering questions.

Gonzales, who is running as a tough-on-crime candidate, said at a news conference on Wednesday that he believed Dreyer was with several companions and spotted someone standing on the other side of a fence who he believes was flying the drone.
‘It became so distracting from the sound and everything I couldn’t really get my point across,’ Gonzales said.
Dreyer has been charged with petty misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.
According to a deputy in the report, Dreyer said that he did not intend to hit Gonzales but was upset at the way Gonzales answered a question and intended to swing his fist through the air.

Gonzales suggested Wednesday that the stunt with the drone may have been sent by the rival campaign of incumbent Mayor Tim Keller, also a Democrat.
Keller’s campaign condemned the drone prank as ‘disruptive, rude and immature’ and denied any involvement.
‘To suggest we were behind it is pathetic and the kind of desperation that has marked Manny’s troubled campaign,’ Keller campaign manager Neri Holguin said.
Dreyer, who describes himself on Facebook as a ‘Banjo Playing Cowboy-Hipster,’ denied to the Albuquerque Journal that he was working for Keller’s campaign and said he’s not a fan of the incumbent either. He declined to comment further.
