Meghan Markle has revealed the hidden pain she was going through while she and Prince Harry were living as senior members of the Royal Family in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In the CBS interview which aired in the US yesterday, the Duchess of Sussex explained why she is “still haunted” by a photo of her walking the red carpet when she was pregnant with Archie in January 2019.
The photographs were taken at the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem show at the Royal Albert Hall.
They show Meghan looking stunning in a full-length navy sequin Roland Mouret gown, holding hands with her husband Prince Harry. She was pregnant with Archie at the time, and could be seen cradling her bump.
Meghan looked glowing and was smiling in the pictures, but she went on to admit the dark reality of what was going on behind the scenes.
Speaking to the TV host in a historical interview about her time in the Royal Family, she revealed she had told Prince Harry she had thoughts about not wanting to be ”alive anymore” just hours before.
The Duke of Sussex had “cradled her”, but then they had to get dressed up and go to the public engagement.
According to the Duchess of Sussex, she doesn’t usually look at photos, but her friend had sent her a snap from the night to tell her how great they looked.

Meghan told Oprah that she had looked at the picture as “saw the truth of what that moment was”.
The mum-of-one said her and Harry were smiling and “doing their job”, but that in reality they were both “just trying to hold on”.
She went on to explain how every time the lights went down during the show she was crying.
