Meghan Markle ‘may never return to UK’ amid dwindling popularity, expert claims

A royal commentator has claimed that it is unlikely Meghan Markle will ever return to the UK, as her and her husband Prince Harry’s popularity has reportedly dwindled.

Without a visit together since the birth of their daughter Lilibet, speculation has been mounting over whether Harry and Meghan will make an appearance at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations next year.

Rifts between the couple and members of the Royal Family have been well-publicised, with the Sussexes even referencing them in their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

But latest polls suggest their ratings are at an all-time low following their move to the US.

Now, asked on the Royally Us podcast whether both sides of the family will reunite for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, royal expert Robert Jobson said he believed that it is unlikely.

“I’m not sure Meghan will ever come to Britain again, she’s not popular here now”, he suggested.

“The idea of her standing next to the Queen, doting on the Queen, when you’ve got a book coming out in which you’re going to spill more dirty linen in public does seem a little hypocritical."

Robert pointed out that members of the royal institution might at that point be wary of the release of the Duke of Sussex’s memoir, which is set to come out in late 2022.

He continued: “We’ll have to wait and see. I’m sure Harry thinks he’ll be there for the 70th – the Platinum Jubilee.

“But you’ve got to remember that within months he’s going to have a book coming out, probably attacking and calling one member of the Royal Family racist, probably naming them."

Robert therefore stressed that the focus of the weekend should be on the Queen, celebrating her “70 years of continued service, dedication and duty”.

He added: “The focus should not be on whether Meghan’s happy or not, or whether Harry’s looking the wrong way at his brother.

“And that’s exactly what will be the case, and that would be wrong in my opinion because the Queen deserves more than that.”
