Police have shot dead a man minutes after he slit a teacher’s throat in a suburb of Paris.
France’s anti-terror prosecutor said it was investigating the attack, which took place in the north-west neighbourhood of Conflans Sainte-Honorine.
The suspected attacker was spotted by a police patrol while carrying a knife a short distance from the scene of the attack.
A police source said that witnesses had heard the attacker shout ‘Allahu Akbar’, or ‘God is Great’.
Another police source also said the victim had been decapitated in the attack, but this was not confirmed.
It comes almost a month after two people were attacked with a meat cleaver outside the former Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo.
The magazine has been operating in a secret location ever since extremists massacred 12 people in 2015, over the publishing of controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad.
