EuroMillions £79.4million jackpot claimed by mystery single ticket-holder in biggest win of year so far

A LUCKY Brit has claimed the huge £79.3million EuroMillions prize today.

This marks the biggest win of the year so far, with the mystery single ticket-holder still anonymous.

It comes after a call went out for UK ticket holders to check their numbers carefully to see if they had won the big jackpot.

This is the fifth UK EuroMillions jackpot win of the year, and it will now go through the process of validation.

Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery, said, “It is fantastic news that a lucky ticket-holder has now claimed this enormous prize.

"We will now focus on supporting the ticket-holder through the process."

It is a record-breaking win for the UK winner, and secures them a spot on the National Lottery Rich List.

This win is number 15 on the list of biggest ever wins, and the fifth UK EuroMillions jackpot win of 2020.

Despite the huge sum won by a UK ticket holder, the win is not close to being the nation's biggest.

In October last year, one very lucky player won £170million but their identity has never been revealed.

Before that, Colin and Chris Weir from Largs in Ayrshire had the biggest win, scooping £161,653,000 in 2011.

Today's lottery jackpot scoop comes after previous EuroMillions winner Adrian Bayford finally found a buyer for his £6.5million mansion.

The 49-year-old, who scooped a £148 million EuroMillions win in 2012, got an offer for his Grade II-listed Georgian manor house.
