Authorities are investigating reports of a possible "shark bite incident" at an Esperance beach.
Police are en route to Kelp Beds beach and St John Ambulance crews are on standby.
The alert was raised at 10.45am on Friday and the beach is currently closed.
Esperance Police and emergency services are responding but confirmed details are not yet available.
Police said updates would be provided as information is verified at the scene.
Those in the area are advised to take additional caution in the area and report any shark sighting to water police on 9442 8600.
