OANDA, a leading multi-asset trading services provider, announced on Wednesday it tapped Kurt vom Scheidt as its new Chief Operating Officer. According to filings disclosed on the UK Companies House website, it was made legally effective on June 2, 2021, under Oanda Europe Limited, registered with the company number 07110087.
Vom Scheidt has vast experience within the financial industry, having worked for several brokerages across the globe. He arrived at OANDA after served as Executive Director and Global Head of Foreign Exchange in Saxo Bank. According to his LinkedIn profile over his 11-year tenure since 2008, vom Scheidt mostly held Chief Operating Officer roles in related sectors, including options and markets.
Prior to his work at Saxo Bank, the new COO of OANDA served as FX Product Manager at GFI Group, a firm based in London. Moreover, vom Scheidt was a Commerzbank AG employee, specifically holding executive roles as Global Head of Markets Business Management, Global Head of FX Business Management, and Global Account Manager, FX Technology for around four years.
His professional background includes over five years of experience in Deutsche Bank, where vom Scheidt – who earned a Bachelor of Science at Syracuse University and an MBA in Finance at the Columbia University in New York – served as Director, Head of Global Support, FX Technology /Global Head of Tactical Solutions, FX Options Tech.
Although his LinkedIn profile shows he’s based in Singapore, UK Companies House’s filings say that the country where he primarily resides is the United Kingdom, suggesting that he may be taking the COO role from such a country. However, there are no further official details on the exact appointment’s conditions from OANDA.
In April, Finance Magnates reported that the multi-asset trading services provider also appointed Marcin Niewiadomski as Head of Europe, as the firm is planning to expand its operations in the European region.
