Soccer Player Cristiano Ronaldo Tests Positive for Covid-19

The soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo has been dismissed from his national squad work after testing positive for Coronavirus.

“The Portuguese international is doing well, without symptoms, and in isolation,” Portugal’s soccer federation says in astatement Tuesday afternoon. Portugal is due to play against Sweden on Wednesday, in Lisbon, as part of the Nations League tournament.

Ronaldo was among the Portuguese players that faced Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe’s French team on October 11. The remaining players in the Portuguese team, includingManchester City’s Bernardo Silva andManchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, repeated tests for Covid-19 on Tuesday which came back negative.

Juventus Football Club SpA, where Ronaldo plays, saw shares fall as much as 6.9% in Milan trading after the news.
