Communities across the US gather to unite against Asian hate, remember Atlanta shooting victims

Communities across the United States hosted vigils Wednesday to remember the victims of the Atlanta shootings and to stand against hate crimes targeting Asian Americans.

Eight people, most of them women of Asian descent, died in the shootings at three spas in the Atlanta area Tuesday night. 

While investigators have not ruled it a hate crime, the incident is the latest in a series of attacks against Asian Americans that have increased during the pandemic. 

People gathered in New York, Washington, D.C. and California with powerful signs that had the same message: Stop Asian hate.
