The Crypto-currency of Alexander Kazes is the property of the US Justice Department.
Fortune claims that Bitcoin, seized after the closure of AlphaBay, the largest deep web trading platform, is now owned by the US Department of Justice.
Now the criticum, previously owned by Alexander Kazes, is considered to be the administrator of AlphaBay, will be sold by the US Federal Marshals Service, which is part of the Ministry of Justice and has the legal right to sell confiscated assets.
Uncle Sam estimated the anonymity of Crypto-currency
Bitcoin's popularity on the Internet, its use of darknet and already routine operations for the seizure of crypto currency, made Uncle Sam a major player in cryptology, the magazine writes.
Exact figures can not be known, but interviews with former lawyers and prosecutors indicate that the US government owns a minimum of 1 billion dollars in crypto-currencies and, possibly, much more, given the rise in prices for crypto-currencies.
The anonymity of Bitcoin, which is so loved by libertarians, makes it almost impossible for society to find out how the seized crypto currency is used, Fortune underscores.
Recall, AlphaBay was closed as a result of police activities of the three countries in July last year, later Alexander Kazes was found hanged in a prison cell in Thailand.
